What are some of the top of the line video cards or video card combinations for a mac pro?

I have a mac pro and it's being majorly slowed down by the graphics card.

My mac includes :

- intel 3.2ghz quad core nehalem processor

- 16gb of ram

- ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB|||You can use 3rd party drivers with a flashed PC card, game in Windows with whatever card you want or wait for Apple to release the next Mac Pros.



For 3rd party drivers take a look at the forums over at netkas.org - a 6970 is going to be the best you can get I think.



The next Mac Pros will come in the next few months, but the sooner they come the more likely they will just use 6000 series cards. Which while meaning official drivers it also means not much power over your 5870. The official cards also don't come on the Apple store for a time after that so it might be next year before an official card better than what you have is available.|||Have you already tried resetting pram and vpram? (Nice machine by the way).



The issue you describe actually strikes me as odd given the video card is already an upgrade. I'm wondering if you have checked with Apple since it is a new machine?
