will PC video card(say the new GeForce 8800 GTX) work on a Mac Pro w/ boot camp? will it run w/ OS X?|||My first question is what are you doing that needs that much video support? Due to the architecture of the mac video system and the fact that it accomplishes everything at roughly twice the speed of a comparable PC CPU, (Windows is NOT an OS. It is still a shell requiring translation in and out of DOS.) a mac video card actually runs the video faster than a twice as a comparable PC video card.
My old NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 in a 2 year old G5 1.6 ghz has higher frame rates while supporting a pair of 19" LCDs than a friend's brand new 3 ghz PC running the same games on his Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS with twice the available bandwidth and a single 19" LCD.
BTW: many PC video cards do work in Macs. All that is needed is the manufacturer (or in some cases a 3rd party) to write a driver and it becomes plug and play!!! NiVidia hasn't written for the newest cards yet, because there hasn't been a market among the Mac users. We haven't NEEDED them to make up for deficiencies in OUR equipment.|||No, it is a mac|||Nope, u need one designed for Mac|||Yes, After everyone shouts "Get a Mac their the best" or "Mac owns PC's". Kinda funny to see how people buy them and find out the hard way.
Nope you can't you will have to get one that is designed for the Mac like mentioned above. Nividia and ATI both have them.
